19 - 20 September 2023 Offsite Expo (Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK)
The event will host leading UK and international offsite manufacturers and component suppliers who will showcase a broad spectrum of panelised, volumetric modular solutions, pod and prefabricated MEP solutions, as well as the latest digital and BIM technology. 19 September 2023 Offsite Awards (Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK)
The Offsite Construction Awards will be returning to the Coventry Building Society Arena once again, to run alongside the Offsite Expo. Offsite technology is changing the contemporary built environment - driving forward projects that represent outstanding examples of prefabrication and factory-based methods, products, systems and disciplines. Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and Lucideon hosted 'Advanced Ceramics - Key Materials for Industry Innovations', a half-day event showcasing how advanced ceramics can improve manufacturing processes and product performance.

29 November 2022 Delivering Net Zero for British Ceramics (Keele Hall, Keele University, Staffordshire, UK)
At this new industry conference, recognising the extensive cross-cutting action being undertaken in decarbonising the UK ceramic sector, Mark Dudson presented "Supporting HyDeploy in the Ceramics Sector" - an overview of the 20% hydrogen blend combustion gas firings at Lucideon on safety critical ceramics to investigate headline performance changes.

4 October 2022 Webinar: Hydrogen - Diffusion, Permeability, Hydride Formation and Metallic Embrittlement - A Metallurgical Perspective on Hydrogen Issues. Part 2 - Hydride Formation & Embrittlement
The growing use of hydrogen in the energy industry sets in motion a myriad of metallurgical issues and problems. The metallurgical community has long been dealing with problems associated with hydrogen interaction with metals; from containment in its liquid state at cryogenic temperatures to its burning as a fuel at high temperatures and everything in between. This two-part webinar series deals with some of the more complex metallurgical issues related to hydrogen. Part 2 of this webinar series (this webinar) addresses hydride formation and embrittlement. The dynamics of how hydrogen diffuses and infiltrates into a metal structure is shown. How the reactivity of hydrogen causes hydrides to form and coalesce in critical areas leading to embrittlement is discussed. How embrittlement is evaluated for particular metal systems is also shown. And finally, the preventative measures which can be implemented to prevent hydrogen embrittlement are presented.

6 September 2022 Webinar: Hydrogen - Diffusion, Permeability, Hydride Formation and Metallic Embrittlement - A Metallurgical Perspective on Hydrogen Issues. Part I - Containment, Diffusion & Permeability
The growing use of hydrogen in the energy industry sets in motion a myriad of metallurgical issues and problems. The metallurgical community has long been dealing with problems associated with hydrogen interaction with metals; from containment in its liquid state at cryogenic temperatures to its burning as a fuel at high temperatures and everything in between. This two-part webinar series deals with some of the more complex metallurgical issues related to hydrogen. Part I (this webinar) addresses issues associated with cryogenic containment, diffusion, and permeability. A discussion of cryogenic materials selection and processing is presented addressing proper containment of hydrogen at extremely low temperatures. The nature of hydrogen gas is covered with a discussion revolving around the very small and very reactive nature of the hydrogen atom. It can diffuse through any material and permeate its microstructure. You can’t stop it, but maybe you can slow it down and control it.

27 July 2022 New Ceramic Technologies for the Move to Net-Zero (The Gallery, Catalyst Building, Staffordshire University, Stoke-On-Trent, UK)
Lucideon and the Transforming Foundation Industries Network+ hosted the next American Ceramics Society UK Chapter meeting. The focus of this event was on how ceramic technologies can be the solution and catalyst to achieve Net-Zero targets for the Ceramic sector but also more widely as enabling advanced materials. 21 July 2022 NDA Group Supply Chain Event (The International Centre, Telford, Shropshire, UK)

27 April 2022 Ceramic Innovation Network (CIN): How to Bridge the Gap from Lab to Product and Teach the Next Generation (University of Manchester, Manchester, UK)
The 2022 Ceramic Innovation Network (CIN) event brought together academics and industrialists from all subsectors of the ceramic industry seeking to explore the challenges of bridging the gap from the lab to product and teaching the next generation. 10 February 2022 Online Panel Event: It’s a Material World: How Materials Science Education is Advancing the STEM Workforce
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022, Lucideon hosted a live online panel event, 'It's a Material World: How Materials Science Education is Advancing the STEM Workforce'.
Hosted by Jeffrey Fox, Partnership Development Manager at AMRICC, the panel explored what the current STEM landscape looks like, the importance of education and upskilling, and how both of these things affect students, employers and job seekers alike.

17 November 2021 MaterialsMatrix Online Panel: Powering Up: How Women in Energy are Driving Change
The energy sector is experiencing a dramatic change: a shift from fossil-based systems of energy production and consumption - including oil, natural gas and coal - to alternative energy sources, like wind, hydrogen and lithium-ion batteries. In addition, the energy sector is experiencing an increase of women in the workforce; however, the percentage is still less than half.
The speakers on the panel were women who are currently involved in the rapid energy transition. They explored the contribution of their energy source to the future, discussing the barriers to women in STEM and how can we get more women in the sector, as well as learning about the panellists' experiences as women in energy.

21 October 2021 MaterialsMatrix Online Panel: Breaking the Wheel: How Additive Manufacturing is Revolutionizing Ceramics
Along with extensive research on additive manufacturing of polymers and metals, fabricating ceramic components using these techniques is the latest trend to come under the spotlight. Ceramic additive manufacturing is an approach suitable for the era of multiple low-volume because of its higher level of flexibility compared to conventional methods for shape complexity and design modification. However, there are still some barriers to practical use due to the AM process speed, defects, and last but not least lack of knowledge.
The panellists explored Additive Manufacturing of Ceramics by analysis of different technologies in this field. You will learn about potential opportunities, suitability of various ceramic materials and also about current challenges within this area of AM.

30 September 2021 Webinar: Advancing Vascular Devices Through Innovative Fatigue Testing & Particulate Evaluation
In this webinar, host Joe Foroughi, Chemistry and Microanalysis Manager at Lucideon, was joined by Dynatek's Director of Global Sales, Kendra Conti. 3 September 2020 Webinar: The Use of Surface Science for Solving Cardio and Neurovascular Device Challenges
Cardiovascular and Neurovascular device manufacturers continue to innovate the surfaces of implants for improved clinical performance, enhanced therapeutic action, and market differentiation. The innovation can be achieved through changing materials, functionalizing surface chemistries, applying coatings, or employing processing treatments, to name a few. However, as with any innovation, challenges can arise - e.g. poor coating adherence on the surface of neurovascular stents; inconsistent pharmaceutical active loading on the surface of drug coated cardiovascular balloons; or pitting corrosion on the surface of overlapping stents. These are just a few of the many challenges encountered in the industry. As we collaboratively work to root-cause issues, optimize processes, and implement corrective actions, visualizing and quantifying surface chemistries and morphologies is paramount. Post-processing of medical devices is an important part of the manufacturing process to ensure products are clean, structurally and chemically stable, and in some cases to improve aesthetics. There are a wide range of post-processing treatments for medical devices. The best option for each device will depend on many factors, such as: material, manufacturing technique, final application and product geometry, and understanding the processes and key factors is crucial to achieving the best finish. This webinar series, hosted by our leading metallurgy expert Julius Bonini, takes a broad look at the range of treatments available and the typical effects of each. Julius discusses how each process is used, and its pros and cons, for traditional manufacturing techniques and for additive manufacturing processes. The Ceramic Innovation Network consists of the British Ceramic Confederation (BCC) and Lucideon; and is supported by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), the University of Surrey, the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) and the Frank Scott Russell Memorial fund.
This year's event, hosted by Lucideon, in association with the British Ceramic Confederation, focused on Accelerating Clean Growth in Ceramics and the associated Government funding streams available to help businesses improve their energy efficiency, achieve decarbonisation and introduce new technology in their manufacturing processes.
