Lucideon has invested in a new white light interferometer (WLI) to increase its analytical support for wear testing clients in the US, and other applications.

Lucideon has welcomed five researchers from the Institute of Biomaterials, Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen – Nuremberg, Germany to its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, UK to develop new anti-bacterial materials.

Lucideon has extended its mechanical testing services to include testing of micro materials, through the development of new, customized test methods.

Lucideon has invested in a new EDS (Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy) instrument for its laboratory in Schenectady, New York.  The EDS instrument is an important investment for the analytical support offered by Lucideon’s orthopedic wear and fatigue testing department.

Lucideon has doubled its capacity for performing hip and knee wear testing in the US.  Lucideon has dedicated wear testing facilities in the UK and US, investing in the latest, state-of-the-art Prosim and AMTI simulators.  The new investment comes as a response to the high demand Lucideon has received for its expert wear testing services.

Lucideon is coordinating the European Commission funded research project, 'Drug-Free Antibacterial Hybrid Biopolymers for Medical Applications' - HyMedPoly.  The project will focus on developing new approaches to combat infection as resistance to antimicrobial drugs grows.  HyMedPoly is training a new generation of professionals to help address this challenge by developing new materials with intrinsic antibacterial functionality.
