Lucideon Certifies Nutricia Infant Nutrition Ltd’s Energy Management System to ISO 50001
Lucideon is pleased to announce that it has recently certified Nutricia Infant Nutrition Ltd’s Energy Management System (EnMS) to ISO 50001.
As well as being the largest specialist nutrition company in Europe, Nutricia is the market leader in Ireland and the UK.
Committed to reducing its environmental impacts, Nutricia, a Danone company, wanted to ensure that its EnMS was a robust system that provided continual improvement. The international standard ISO 50001 provides a framework and guidance for putting such a system in place.
Lucideon’s GHG lead auditor, Tony Summers, carried out assessments at Danone’s Macroom County Cork site, which is the largest unit in the group worldwide. This included a review of the production process, energy usage and how Danone intend to improve energy efficiency on site.
Following the assessment, Danone was presented with a certificate of registration which shows that their Energy Management System is in compliance with ISO 50001.
Shaun Bainbridge, assurance director at Lucideon, said:
“I was pleased to be invited to the Danone “Nature Day” to present the company with its ISO 50001 certificate. The event was attended by all staff, a local school and an Irish business associated with environmental awareness. I was delighted to deliver a brief talk about the great achievement they had made and how their staff had showed great enthusiasm throughout the process.”
Michael Herlihy, EHS manager at Danone says:
“Danone Macroom is delighted to achieve certification to ISO 50001. Macroom is the first spray drier plant in the Danone network to receive this registration. Danone has a very ambitious Nature program. It has a target of being carbon neutral by 2050. Energy reduction is a key part of this program. Macroom, as a large energy user will be central to Danone achieving this target. ISO 50001 will give us the systems and processes to help us on this journey.”
